As you probably know, we spent this past weekend in Atlanta for the USA Powerlifting Raw Nationals. It was a long drive and a long weekend, but it was an AWESOME experience. Laura Vineyard made her second trip to Raw Nationals and improved on last year’s performance by over 38 pounds! More than that, she qualified for the 2017 Arnold Sports Festival Powerlifting Meet – which attracts some of the top lifters in the world!

Joining her this year was Dani and Nikki in only their second powerlifting meet. Their first was just 6 weeks ago, and they’ve only been training for about 3 months. It’s going to be AWESOME to see their progress over the next year. Maybe we’ll have 3 going to the Arnold!

I have a tendency to get overwhelmed by the hundreds of people crammed together, the loud music, and an announcer dressed like a rock ‘n roll pirate. I stress over timing warmups, weight attempts, and kilo math (yes, I do worry about making a math mistake. It has never once happened in my life, but it could… theoretically). Sometimes, I have to remind myself to take a breath and look around. Here we are competing alongside some of the best in the country. In the CrossFit world, this would be like competing next to Matt Fraser or Katrín Tanja Davíðsdóttir. Our team warmed up on the same platform as this guy:

What an amazing accomplishment for Nikki, Dani, and Laura. Congrats, ladies. We are incredibly proud of you!!

AND… we want to support you by coming to Trivia!!!! Don’t forget that our trivia night is scheduled for November 5th. The money we raise here will help us support our athletes at these national competitions. These girls at Powerlifting meets, our barbell club at the American Open, and our awesome CrossFitters at the Heart of America competition. Come out for some trivia and you’ll be doing your part to send them to these great events! Check out the deets here.
