Mark Rippetoe – Power Clean Bar Path
There’s a big difference between a beginner’s “Grip it and Rip it” power clean and a more advanced lifter’s power clean that stays close to the body throughout the pull.
The former yanks the bar straight up from the ground and onto the shoulders of the athlete with a great deal of space between the body and the bar. The more advanced lifter keeps the bar VERY close to the body for the duration of the pull.
