Jesse - Deadilfting Not 400

Pulling 372lbs.

I don’t really post photos of myself on the blog, but Neil just gave me permission.

Ever since I began CrossFit in 2009, I thought deadlifting 400lbs would be the end all be all. It’s not a huge number these days by any stretch of the imagination, but at the time, it sure as hell was for me. My current PR is 389, and I’m four weeks away from finishing my tenth straight Wendler Cycle this year. My deadlift volume has gone from a max effort of 275 x 10 to 315 x 18. Last Friday, I was lifting with some of the bro’s and broke 405 off the floor with darn good form before giving up and letting gravity win the day. Again.

I have every confidence that will be the last time.

Over the next four weeks, I’ll be growing out what little beard I can, eating all the bacon and giving it hell to the best of my ability. Just like the Community at 314 helps keep all of you accountable and persistent in your pursuit of your goals, so too for me. In fact, especially so for me. You are the Strongest Community I know, and some of the best people on the planet. I could not be more proud working out side by side with you all – working to get fitter, stronger and awesomer.
