“Fitness is not about being better than someone else…it’s about being better than you used to be.” – Random internet quote
I still finish last in class, but I’m way better than I used to be. I’m stronger, feel better about how I look, and enjoy weightlifting…but I’m still improving and am enthusiastic to keep trying.
On my honeymoon, I got the opportunity to hang out with some surfers. I still remember the most experienced surfer say about her friend; “He has only been surfing 8 years”…like the guy just started! That is how I feel right now about weightlifting and Crossfit.
In my mind 8 months feels like a long time to be lifting and I should be nearing expert status. I have realized that I am in fact a beginner and I am ready to continue weightlifting (snatch and clean & jerk) and continue learning. I have to lift consistently and correctly for a few years…to always be better than I used to be.
Crossfit is magical!
